Assistant Professor in Russian language, literature, and culture

The Department of German and Russian at the University of Vermont invites applications for a tenure-
track Assistant Professor position in Russian language, literature, and culture to begin in the fall
semester of 2011.

The Ph.D. degree is required at the time of the appointment. Successful candidates are expected to have native/near native fluency in Russian and English.

Applicants must demonstrate a strong interest and experience in language teaching at all levels of Russian language including an ability to teach seminars and survey courses in the area of the candidate's expertise.

Preferred area of specialization is 19th century Russian literature and culture. A background in second language acquisition is desirable. The successful candidate will develop a vigorous sponsored research program, teach at all levels, and advise/mentor undergraduate students, in addition to professional contributions and service.
