Assistant Professor in Russian Literature

Boston University invites applications for a tenure-track position in Russian Literature at the Assistant Professor rank, beginning Fall 2013 (pending budgetary approval).

Area of specialization within Russian literature is open. Familiarity with the debates and approaches of comparative literature is desirable, and applications are encouraged from candidates with additional fields of expertise, e.g., interactions among Russian and other literatures; translation studies; film or visual studies; performance studies; gender and sexuality studies; connections between Russian literary and linguistic theory.

A PhD is required at the time of appointment, as is native or near-native fluency in Russian and English. A robust research and publication agenda is essential. At Boston University, the successful applicant will join a vibrant faculty community in literary studies, comparative literature, and interdisciplinary Slavic, European, Middle Eastern and Asian studies.

The teaching load is two courses per semester. Teaching will include the central authors of Russian literature; there will also be opportunities to teach courses in comparative literature, interdisciplinary Russian studies, or film studies. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience.
