Assistant Professor in Russian

The Department of Germanic and Slavic Studies at the University of Georgia invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position in Russian, beginning August 2013.

We are seeking a promising scholar and outstanding teacher to become a part of our dynamic Russian program. The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate courses in 19th- and 20th- century Russian literature and Russian culture, in both Russian and English, as well as Russian language courses at all levels. The teaching load is four courses per year.

Requirements: Ph.D. in Russian or Slavic Studies. Candidates should be able to demonstrate scholarly potential, have proven excellence in teaching, and possess native or near-native fluency in both Russian and English. Experience in online instruction and/or the ability to teach courses in a second Slavic language are additional desirable qualifications.

Applications should include a cover letter, c.v., writing sample, statement of teaching philosophy, and three letters of recommendation.
