Assistant Professor of Russian

The University of Denver’s Department of Languages and Literatures invites applications for a full-time Assistant Professor of Russian. This is a tenure-track position with full benefits. Start: September 1, 2019.

The teaching load for this position is six courses over three quarters. Teaching will include courses at all levels on Russian language, culture and literature, as well as supervision of independent studies and honors theses. The successful candidate may also create courses for the common curriculum (in English). Scholarly potential and an active research agenda are expected. Departmental service is expected, including student advising and participation in program assessment and in extracurricular activities promoting the Russian program.

Required Qualifications
• PhD (or ABD at the time of application) in Russian or a closely related field with a strong Russian component.
• Native or near-native proficiency in Russian and English.
• Record of excellence and success in teaching Russian language at the college or university level.
• Experience or evidence of a commitment to incorporate inclusive excellence teaching methods and/or pedagogies to effectively engage broadly diverse student populations.
