The Centre for Jewish Studies at the University of Toronto offers the Anne Tanenbaum Fellowship to support advanced research in Jewish Studies. The 2011-12 Fellowship will be awarded to a post-doctoral candidate engaged in research related to 20th Century Jewish history or culture in Eastern Europe and Russia.

The candidate must have completed all the requirements for the doctoral degree by December 31, 2011 and not have earned the degree prior to December 31, 2009. The award winner will be designated the Anne Tanenbaum Post-doctoral Fellow and will spend 2012 Winter Semester (January through May) at the University of Toronto. The Anne Tanenbaum Post-doctoral Fellow is expected to be active in the intellectual life at the Centre for Jewish Studies, and will assist and participate in the organization of a major conference in March 2012.

Applications must include:
(1) a letter of interest, not exceeding 300 words, that describes the candidate’s current research project and the scholarly contribution to be made; and
(2) a curriculum vitae, both of which are to be emailed to cjs.toronto@utoronto.ca with a subject line “Tanenbaum Post-doctoral Fellowship.”
(3) Candidates must also arrange to have a letter of recommendation from the doctoral supervisor emailed to the Centre for Jewish Studies at cjs.toronto@utoronto.ca.

Fellows receive a $25,000 (Canadian) stipend to defray living and travel costs.
