Lecturer in Russian

The Department of Germanic and Slavic Studies at the University of Waterloo is accepting applications for the position of Lecturer (limited term appointment of two years, possibly renewable for a two-year period) in Russian with a specialization in language teaching and acquisition.

The successful candidate will preferably have a PhD in hand by the time the appointment begins on 1 September 2012. Duties include teaching at the undergraduate level and a leading role in program development (specifically language studies for elementary, intermediate, and advanced learners of Russian, and cultural studies courses taught in English). An ability and interest in online course development is an asset as is the ability to teach other Slavic languages.

Russian studies at the University of Waterloo are undergoing a period of redevelopment following the retirement of core faculty members. The Department of Germanic and Slavic Studies also offers programs leading to the BA, MA, and PhD in German and courses in Dutch, Croatian, and Polish, applied language studies, and visual studies. The University of Waterloo, rated the most innovative university in Canada for many years running, is located in one of the fastest growing regions of the country.
