Postdoctoral Fellowship in Russian Studies

Vassar College - Poughkeepsie, NY

Vassar College invites applications for a two-year Mellon postdoctoral Fellowship in Russian Studies, to begin Fall 2012.

Vassar College is an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer and is strongly committed to diversity within its community; applications from historically underrepresented groups are especially encouraged.

Candidates should be relatively new PhDs (preferably having received the doctorate within the past four years) with the field of specialization open. Possibilities include Russian literature, language and culture.

We seek scholars who can teach dynamically in an undergraduate liberal arts setting and are willing to make vigorous contributions to the department’s extra-curricular program. Each academic year the Fellow will teach three courses, both in the Russian language and in translation, with the possibility of offering a specialty course.

The fellowship includes salary in the low $50,000’s, benefits, and support for research, professional travel, and relocation.

To apply, please visit http://employment.vassar.edu/applicants/Central?quickFind=51262

Candidates are asked to submit a letter of application, C.V., graduate school transcript (unofficial copies accepted for initial application), and at least three letters of recommendation.

Review of applications will begin December 26, 2011 and will continue until the position is filled. (If you are also applying to the Visiting Assistant Professor position at Vassar it is sufficient to submit only the
letter of application.)

Interviews may be held at the AATSEEL conference in Seattle, or arranged in late January and February.

Vassar is a highly selective, coeducational liberal arts college of about 2450 undergraduates (no graduate students) located in the beautiful and historic Hudson Valley seventy-five miles north of New York City.

The city of Poughkeepsie benefits from rich cultural diversity and from convenient commuter rail access to New York City.
