Visiting Assistant Professor of Russian Language, Literature and Culture

The Department of Russian Language, Literature and Culture at Oberlin College invites applications for a full-time, non-continuing faculty position in the College of Arts and Sciences. Appointment to this position will be for a term of one year beginning Fall 2013, with the possibility of renewal for up to two
additional years. The position will carry the rank of Visiting Instructor or Visiting Assistant Professor.

The incumbent will teach a total of five courses per year: two Russian language courses (one per semester)
at either the introductory or intermediate level, and three upper-level courses (in English and Russian) in
the area of late Soviet and post-Soviet literature and culture (including cinema and media, music, visual art, performance, anthropology, or other areas). The ability to teach other periods (nineteenth and early twentieth-century) or other literary and cultural traditions (such as Eastern Europe and the Balkans, the Caucuses, Central Asia) is desirable.

Among the qualifications required for appointment are the Ph.D. degree in hand or expected by spring
2014, and native or near-native Russian and English. Candidates must demonstrate interest and potential
excellence in undergraduate teaching. Successful teaching experience at the college level is desirable.
