Visiting Assistant Professor of Russian Studies

The Department of Languages, Literatures and Cultures at the University at Albany (www.albany.edu/llc), State University of New York, seeks a Visiting Assistant Professor in Russian Studies for one year to begin in Fall 2024, with possible extension for a second year. The position carries a 3/3 course load and includes directing the Russian program (advising of minors, coordination of student activities, curriculum development). Ph.D. in Russian studies or related field in hand at the time of appointment.

We seek candidates with native or near-native Russian and English proficiency and a rigorous pedagogical training to teach undergraduate courses in language and culture, as well as general education courses in English. While the focus area is open, the ideal candidate will have a background in contemporary Russian studies, media and cultural studies and/or migration studies and an interest to collaborate with various units on campus. The expectation is for in-person instruction. Candidates’ teaching, research and service should bear out our commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and sense of belonging. We are a collaborative group of faculty, staff and students working in a department that teaches eight languages.
